At P23 Labs, our dedication to making a positive impact reaches far beyond the boundaries of innovation. We firmly believe in leveraging our resources to support those who need it most. Today, we are honored to announce our donation to the Domestic Abuse Project (DAP) and our unwavering commitment to bolster their critical mission.

The prevalence of intimate partner violence is deeply concerning, with statistics revealing that 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have experienced physical violence by an intimate partner at some point in their lifetime. Shockingly, more than 10 million people endure physical assaults by intimate partners every year, as reported by the National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey (NISVS). This issue takes a heavy toll on women’s health, with domestic violence ranking as the leading cause of injury to women ages 15-44, as per data from www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov. Furthermore, the consequences of domestic violence extend to children who witness such acts, putting them at a heightened risk for post-traumatic stress disorder, aggressive behavior, anxiety, impaired development, difficulties in social interactions, academic problems, and an increased likelihood of substance abuse, according to the same source. These alarming statistics emphasize the critical need for heightened awareness, support, and preventative measures to address the pervasive issue of domestic violence in our society. “Cultivating a healthy society includes fostering healthy relationships based on the bedrock of mutual respect. At P23 Labs, we recognize that promoting safe and nurturing family environments is not just a commitment but a responsibility. Our support of DAP reflects our unwavering dedication to building a society where every family can thrive in an atmosphere of love and respect.” – Dr. Tiffany Montgomery, CEO at P23 Labs

Founded in 1979, the Domestic Abuse Project was established in response to a Governor’s Task Force Recommendation that called for additional services to be added to the existing system of battered women’s shelters in Minnesota. The vision behind DAP is deeply rooted in the understanding that violence and abuse are learned behaviors, and that more positive and nurturing behaviors can be learned in their place.

DAP is not just a shelter; it’s a model treatment program that addresses the root causes of domestic violence. Their programs are designed to help both men who use abuse and their partners and children heal from the trauma of domestic violence. Throughout the years, DAP has continuously evolved, incorporating effective therapy, advocacy, and most recently, a case management program into their services.

At P23 Labs, we stand shoulder to shoulder with DAP in their commitment to promoting safe and healthy family relationships. We firmly believe that preventing domestic violence requires a comprehensive approach—one that involves supporting survivors, addressing the needs of those who use abuse, and continually adapting to community needs and current research on violence and trauma.

DAP’s dedication to integrating their clients’ voices and feedback into their programming ensures that they remain responsive to their community’s needs. This approach aligns perfectly with our values at P23 Labs, where we prioritize listening to our partners and adapting our testing solutions to better serve them.

In supporting DAP, we are not only contributing to the healing and well-being of individuals and families affected by domestic violence but also actively working to prevent it in the future.

As we move forward together with DAP, we invite you to join us in supporting their mission. Together, we can make a meaningful impact in the fight against domestic violence, working towards a future where every family can thrive in a safe and nurturing environment.
